Inspired by the French Impressionists and the California Plein Aire Impressionists, Dillie states:" I feel a real connection to the plant life that grows on the desert. I am inspired by its strength and adaptability and at the same time, its delicate beauty. I want my viewers to feel as if they can walk in to one of my paintings and share the peaceful experience of being one with nature." Most recently to the artist's delight, Dillie's work has been successfully utilized for "Imaging Therapy". Psychologist, Peg Alitt states," Imagery work can be one of the most powerful tools in assisting a patient to reach a peaceful, mental resolution. The shadow cast sleepy roads brought to life by Dillie Thomas have produced amazing results in 95% of my patients". Dillie attended San Bernardino Valley College and majored in Art at Victor Valley College and California State College in San Bernardino. Through 40 years of painting miles of canvas she has perfected a recognizable pallette knife style unique to her work. Dillie and her husband, Ed live in the small mountain village of Wrightwood, CA in the summer, and Indio, CA in the lovely Cochella valley during the winter giving Dillie unlimited access to both mountain and desert subject matter.
